Raiders set for charity event

14th February 2017

Lee Radford and Ryan Hall are set to be in attendance as Oulton Raiders host a Candlelighters Charity Event on July 2, 2017 at Raider Park.

Former Raiders player Sasch Brook, who played 448 games for the club between 1998 and 2014, is organising the event in aid of his eight-year-old nephew William Coley who was diagnosed with leukaemia last year.

The main part of the day, after a planned Youth RL Festival, would be an Oulton Raiders Select Side 1998-2014 v National Conference League All Stars 1998-2014.

XBlades are fully behind the event and will be producing the playing kit for both sides as well as polo shirts, while they are offering any businesses to sponsor the shirts.

Former East Hull and current Hull FC Head Coach Lee Radford has confirmed his attendance as one of the NCL All Stars coaches, with former Oulton Raiders Junior Ryan Hall, of England and Leeds Rhinos, kicking the game off officially at 3pm on the day alongside young William.

A host of current and former NCL players have also confirmed they will be playing in the game with clubs from Yorkshire, Lancashire & Cumbria all represented.

Current Raiders player Andy Williamson said: "One of the key parts of the day will be a raffle and auction that will take place after the main game in the Clubhouse, with a wide range of exceptional sporting merchandise from around the World such as signed NRL, Super League and Premier League shirts and balls, as well as other sporting equipment of interest that won't be available for general sale.

"All proceeds from the day will go to Candlelighters."

The day will be a carnival-type afternoon with activities for all the family, of all ages.

Williamson added: "With plenty of time to ensure preparation is spot on, all those behind the scenes will be doing whatever it takes to make it as vibrant as possible so all present will look back fondly on the day for years to come."
